Poly Maine Coon congress, 28th April

This weekend the poly Maine Coon congress was held during the Cats and Tulips (TICA) show in Asperen (NL). There were 5 rings in New Traits, one of them was the poly Maine Coon congress judged by Kurt Vlach (he did the last 3 poly congresses; in 2008, 2009 and now in 2012).

He pointed out that the 3 important things he judges the poly Maine Coons on are:
1. Type, 2. Grooming, 3. Temperament. He told us that through the years he has seen the polys improve in type. And this was the first time he said out loud, that he loves the polys! We love you too Kurt.

The final was between Dynamicats Lets Get PP Loud (left) and Galaxy P de Redland (right).
Kurt asked their owners to present their cats, and tell the public why the other cat should win?
So they did, and.......he almost changed his mind ;-) But at that moment he decided...

Poly Maine Coon congress is ON!

We are very excited to announce that the poly Maine Coon Congress is ON!
It will be held at the Cats & Tulips show in Asperen (NL), Saturday 28th of April.
In total 22 poly Maine Coons entered the show for Saturday. We are so happy!
Thank you all for taking this opportunity to show your polys!

Don’t forget to give them showbaths and groom them properly.
The judge, Kurt Vlach, specifically asked for that.
The key is Rinse, Rinse, Rinse….and if you think you’re done……….
Rinse again! :-))

See you all on Saturday, also if you have not entered a poly yourself.

Noodkreet voor Garfield

Mijn tante is eind vorig jaar plotseling overleden. Zij had een rode kater, Garfield, en verzorgde ook de zwerfkatten in de buurt. Toen ze vertelde dat die steeds kleintjes kregen en er dus steeds meer bijkwamen heb ik de Zwerfkatten opvang gebeld. Zij hebben ze toen opgehaald, gecastreerd en terug geplaatst. Toen mijn tante overleed was er nog 1 zwerfkat die af en toe langskwam om te eten, en nu van de buurvrouw eten krijgt. Garfield was bij mijn neef en wij dachten dat hij daar ook kon blijven.

Nu blijkt dat mijn neef Garfield niet kon verzorgen en een ander huis voor hem had gevonden. Garfield bleek daar echter niet met de andere katten om te kunnen gaan, deed niet veel anders dan de hele dag op bed liggen en at en dronk bijna niet. De vrouw die hem geadopteerd had heeft hem uiteindelijk naar het asiel gebracht. Daar bleek dat hij nierfalen heeft en flink uitgedroogd was. Het zou 600 Euro kosten om hem weer op te lappen. Dat geld had deze mevrouw niet en uiteindelijk vroeg het asiel 200 Euro inclusief afstandsverklaring.

Nu zit Garfield, 13 jaar oud, dus in het asiel. Z’n baasje is weg gegaan en nooit meer terug gekomen. Van zoon naar vreemde mensen en katten gebracht. En nu uitgedroogd met nierfalen in het asiel. Mijn hart breekt.

Ik weet wat het is om een kat met nierfalen te hebben. Dat is niet iets wat je zomaar even doet. Daarvoor moet je veel van een kat of katten in het algemeen houden. Het is superintens en je krijgt er een hele sterke band met de kat door. Alleen wordt de kat niet beter! Misschien stabiliseert hij, gaat het nog een paar jaar goed? Maar dan komt toch de onherroepelijke achteruitgang. Je wilt het beestje niet laten lijden, dus je moet hem goed in de gaten houden. Tot uiteindelijk de nieren er mee stoppen en je niets anders kunt doen dan hem op een waardige manier te laten gaan.

Aan wie kun je zoiets vragen? Ik weet dat hij goed verzorgd wordt in het asiel. En toch hoop ik dat er iemand is, die zich het lot van dit soort katten aantrekt en Garfield nog een paar mooie en liefdevolle laatste jaren kan geven…

Mocht iemand een suggestie hebben, dan hoor ik het graag.

There's a new kid in town!

This is Nate! He is my dream boy, being a blue smoke with white Maine Coon polydactyl with patty feet 6/6/6/6. Although he only has 6 toes on each foot, I have never seen such big feet before. I just adore them! And he is such a sweetheart. He really stole my heart!

Nate is living with my good friends
John & Paul, Cattery Leather and Lace and I hope to have a blue smoke poly girl out of him some day.
